Night owls and those simply jubilant about vibrant gathering places: The Hamilton (600 14th Street), the 24/7 restaurant/club, might be the place for you. This Clyde’s Restaurant Group venue, representing an investment of $25 million, is tentatively scheduled to open on December 20, offering a first floor restaurant which seats 400 guests and a downstairs listening room for music and entertainment which seats 300—not including 100 bar stools and a private dining room. At 37,000 square feet (SF), The Hamilton will surpass Carmine’s (425 7th Street) Italian restaurant by 17,000 SF! Carmine’s opened in Downtown with the city’s largest year-round seating capacity last year and created more than 250 jobs. The Hamilton will hire 300 employees.

Its menu will include sushi, charcuterie, and seasonal and regional American fare—although the final menu is still being developed.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner and a late-night dining experience will be available Monday through Friday, with brunch, dinner and late-night fare rounding out the weekend. Expect artisanal wines, craft beers and regional craft spirits, especially American gins and bourbons, and a saki list. Gigs by local, national and international musicians will be the order of the day (and night).

Meanwhile, Clyde’s Restaurant Group is temporarily using space at 640 14th Street, once occupied by W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist (699 15th Street), as a recruiting office. And just think, The Hamilton will be located two blocks from the White House. Could it become a twilight hideaway for the President and First Lady? Only time will tell.
