Calling all artists and design professionals. The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) and the General Services Administration (GSA) are seeking ideas for a temporary commemorative installation to be located at the Ariel Rios Hemicycle, a grassy semi-circle along the west side of 12th Street between Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues in Federal Triangle. The theme: the purpose and positive impact of Earth Day. Put on your thinking cap and get busy. This is a competition. The winner—either an individual or a team—will be selected this summer, but Request for Qualifications (RFQ) submissions are due February 28. Those lucky enough to make it to round two get to submit proposals in June. The prize: a possible contract to design, fabricate and install your proposed installation at the Hemicycle for about a year. More information about eligibility, submission requirements and deadlines appear in the RFQ, which will be available on the Federal Business Opportunities website early this month.
