Ball on the Mall

Looking for an opportunity to dance by moonlight in the shadow of the Washington Monument and US Capitol? Look no further. A unique and swanky affair will take place on May 8, from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

That’s when the National Mall will come alive in a tented area near Madison Drive at 13th Street. The Trust for the National Mall’s L’Enfant Society will host the Ball on the Mall fundraiser to help restore and improve the historic landmark, considered to be America’s front yard. Dance under the stars at this black-tie event, which will feature live music performed by a 14-piece brass band, an open bar, buffet dinner and complimentary valet parking.

Washington Life Magazine is the event sponsor, benefactor Michael J. Saylor, chief executive officer and chairman of Virginia-based MicroStrategy, the presenter. Tickets cost $150 per person. Reservations may be made at www.ballonthemall.eventbrite.com. For more information, call 202.207.3898, or e-mail kdevine@nationalmall.org.

The L’Enfant Society is a young professionals group that raises money and awareness to support the underfunded and overused Mall, which receives 25 million visitors a year. For more information about the Trust for the National Mall, visit www.lenfantsociety.org.
