The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) mourns the loss of Teresa Darlene Savoy, longtime employee of the Downtown SAM team. Savoy passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016.

“Ms. Savoy was a dedicated employee and was beloved by many,” said BID Executive Director Neil O. Albert. “Our thoughts are with her family and many friends at this difficult time.”

Savoy was a Safety/Hospitality Supervisor and served the BID for more than 16 years. Known to many as soft spoken and mild mannered, Savoy was a strong and encouraging leader whom colleagues respected for her firmness as well as her kindness. She was instrumental in planning SAM employee events over the years including the annual SAM picnic and holiday parties.

She is described by her colleagues as someone who always had a pleasant demeanor, was easy to get along with and was a good listener. Savoy, a mother of five and grandmother of six, was born in Cheverly, MD. In her spare time, she enjoyed drawing, playing basketball and going to the movies.
