There’s no reason to watch Top Chef on the tube when you can follow DC’s leading culinary masters up close and personal at the 9th Annual Capital Food Fight. Four great chefs will battle it out at 6:00 pm on Monday, October 8th, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (1300 Pennsylvania Avenue). Their goal: to combat hunger and create job opportunities. But hurry, tickets are going quickly!

You wouldn’t want to miss Downtown’s Enzo Fargione from Elisir (427 11th Street), Guillermo Pernot from Cuba Libre (801 9th Street) and Jeffrey Buben from Bistro Bis (15 E Street) as they whip up delectable dishes. DC chef Adam Sobel from Bourbon Steak will also join the competition, which will benefit the work of DC Central Kitchen (425 2nd Street).

The big name participants don’t end there. Jose Andres, the proprietor of such Downtown restaurants as Jaleo (480 7th Street) and Zaytinya (701 9th Street) will host the event again this year, and Carla Hall (The Chew), Padma Lakshmi (Top Chef) and Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre Foods) will all serve as judges.

There’s more. While the competitors toil in the kitchen, nearly six dozen local restaurants will offer succulent morsels to keep attendees sufficiently stuffed. They include Adour (923 16th Street), Brasserie Beck (1101 K Street), Charlie Palmer Steak House (101 Constitution Avenue), and PS 7’s (777 Eye Street).

Tickets to this gala are $200 per person and support a good cause. DC Central Kitchen prepares meals for low-income and at-risk DC residents and offers a rigorous Culinary Job Training program for unemployed men and women who want to replace homelessness, addiction, and incarceration with new careers and changed lives.
