A shout out to three DowntownDC ecoDistrict organizations that received the U.S. Green Building Council-National Capital Region’s (USGBC-NCR) 2013 Awards of Excellence. The ecoDistrict buildings were among 11 chosen last month in three categories.
And the winners are:
- Project of the Year – CoStar Group, Inc. (1331 L Street), for commercial interior work on six floors located in its corporate headquarters
- Sustainable Business of the Year – The Tower Companies
- Honorable Mention – 410 E Street Courthouse, for new construction
The Awards of Excellence celebrate individuals and firms for their leadership and commitment to green buildings in the NCR.
CoStar Group and The Tower Companies are real trailblazers. Both also received the 2013 Mayor’s Sustainability Awards last month. They were recognized for demonstrating outstanding achievements and leadership in sustainable practices that support the city’s Sustainable D.C. initiative.
The other Downtown honorees receiving the Mayor’s award:
- Brainfood, which has two satellite locations in the BID
- Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGES), a subsidiary of WGL Holdings
