DowntownDC is in the holiday spirit with holiday banners, snowflake lights and new this year, twinkling snowflakes in the median of New York Avenue.

With support from the National Museum of Women in the Arts (1250 New York Avenue), the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) this year installed four lighted, decorative snowflakes in the median of New York Avenue between 12th and 13th streets. The lights are located in front of the office for the BID’s SAMs (Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance ambassadors.)

The snowflakes turn on at night to light New York Avenue as it leads east to CityCenterDC’s festive holiday tree and decorations.

The median snowflakes this year in addition to the 120 Joy, Love, Peace and Hope banners visible on street poles across the BID along with 60 street pole snowflake lights. New this year, the BID is piloting LED bulbs in six streetpole snowflake lights to utilize a more energy-efficient and longer-lasting system.

Enjoy even more holiday decorations at the 12th Annual Downtown Holiday Market, open 12-8pm daily through Dec. 23 at 8th and F streets NW. Visit the DowntownDC BID’s store and gift wrapping station!
