Early Voting Centers Reopening

yes

Hurricane Sandy shook up more than trees and debris. The monster storm put early voting on hold just days before the General and Special Elections scheduled for Tuesday, November 6th. Be aware that early voting in DC will resume at Early Voting Center locations tomorrow, Wednesday, October 31st, and continue through Saturday, November 3rd, in each of the city’s eight wards. The centers will now operate between 8:30 am and 9:00 pm, two hours later than before the storm hit to accommodate anticipated heavy turnout. Each center will require that voters cast ballots using touch-screen voting equipment. The only exception is the Downtown center located at One Judiciary Square (441 4th Street), which also will make paper ballots available. Come November 6th, however, you must go to your assigned polling place to cast a regular ballot. The polls will open at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm, and you will be able to use either a paper ballot or the touch-screen voting equipment. And if you’re in line by 8:00 pm, you will be able to vote even if there are lines when the polls close. For more information visit the Board of Elections website or call 202.727.2525. And remember to vote!
