Melodic, funky jazz will invade the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden on 7th Street and Constitution Avenue when the Jazz in the Garden series returns on Friday, May 27 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The free concert series will begin its 11th season with a plethora of jazz styles ranging from Brazilian and Cuban to progressive and guitar fusion.  Also in the mix: Afro-funk from Togo, double drummers, the US Navy Academy Band, and more. The summer series runs every Friday through September 9.

And it all takes place in the serene Sculpture Garden amid 17 stunning works of 20th-century sculpture, surrounded by native American species of canopy trees, flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials. A fountain, which serves as an ice rink in the winter, provides the backdrop for the art installations and the music. For the full program schedule, visit www.nga.gov/programs/jazz.
