The DowntownDC BID wants to introduce and welcome two new staff members: David Riedman and Remi Allen.

David, the homeland security and emergency preparedness manager, will support emergency preparedness and manage comprehensive public–private partnerships, including assisting property owners with developing emergency operations plans, employee preparedness and continuity of operations planning. He will also develop and coordinate drills, provide training, and facilitate tabletop exercises to create a safer downtown experience. David has 10 years of public safety experience. Prior to joining the DowntownDC BID, he was a senior consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he provided support to the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. David is a longtime volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician and holds the rank of Master Firefighter in Montgomery County, Maryland. While responding to emergency calls, the Georgetown University graduate received two citations, from the U.S. House of Representatives and the State of Maryland, for actions taken beyond the call of duty.

Remi is the newest member of the National Cherry Blossom Festival team, serving as the program coordinator of external relations. She will work with the Festival’s Participating Organizations & Affiliate Tours Program, which helps fill the organization’s events calendar, as well as the award-winning City in Bloom promotion, the PetalPass discount program, and the Cherry Picks Restaurant Program and its affiliation with the Pink Tie Party fund-raiser. Over the past 10 years, Remi has worked in sales and membership for non-profit arts, hospitality and entertainment organizations, including the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. As the former membership director of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, a regional arts-service organization, she maintained working relationships with more than 200 cultural, emerging and large organizations. Remi has a degree in African American Studies, with a concentration in the arts and aesthetics, from Howard University.

Please join us in welcoming David and Remi.
