New Cherry Tree Promotion

Like trees? Then you’ll like the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s new EmBark, Branch and Blossom initiative. It’s all about community involvement, sustainability and tree plantings. Plus it augments the Festival’s multi-year commitment to plant 1,000 cherry trees throughout the Washington metropolitan area in honor of the 2012 Centennial anniversary of the gift of trees from Tokyo to DC. How it works: simply make a donation. Although contributions of $250 cover the cost of acquiring and planting a cherry tree, donations of any amount are encouraged and applied directly to the program, care and maintenance of the trees. The Festival has planted hundreds of trees throughout the region since 2005. Its Tree Planting Programs, coordinated in partnership with Casey Trees, help spread pink and white blossoms across the landscape. More information is available at the National Cherry Blossom Festival website.
