New Regulations for Vendors

The city’s first new vending regulations in more than 30 years will take effect this fall. Approved by the D.C. Council in June, they cover sidewalk vendors, public markets and mobile roadway vendors, aka food trucks. The latter have grown rapidly in the past five years, and the new regulations end more than four years of acrimonious debate on where and how they can operate.

Vendors can learn more about how the regs will change the industry. The District Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs will host training sessions on the following dates:

  • Saturday, August 24, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Monday, August 26, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 27, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with multiple language translation

More sessions will be offered in September and posted on the DCRA website.
