Need a quick 10 minutes away from your desk to destress?

Decompress with the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) Sept. 15 on PARK(ing) Day at the BID’s relaxation pop up parklet in Chinatown on 7th Street between H & G streets NW.

This year, the BID is participating in this annual holiday to promote urban open spaces by providing a free Downtown relaxation oasis with complimentary professional chair massages, a meditative coloring station featuring images of DowntownDC’s Fancy Animal Carnival, and free chocolates and giveaways, and snacks provided by honeygrow (716 7th Street) and KIND snacks. Guests can stop by between 9am-4pm to take advantage of these free benefits.

While there, learn more about a reimagined 7th Street that could create more pedestrian areas, provide seating and includes other new aesthetics.

PARK(ing) Day, which began in San Francisco in 2005, has grown into an annual international day offering cities the opportunity to utilize tactical urbanism (the temporary changes to the built environment) in car parking spaces to promote urban open space.

Individuals in D.C. will have the opportunity to experience pop up parks in car parking spaces throughout the city on Sept. 15.

For more information on D.C.’s PARK(ing) Day activations, visit the District Department of Transportation’s webpage: https://ddot.dc.gov/page/parking-day-dc-2017.
