The Retail Maven Strikes Again

All eyes are on the Equitable Building (915 F Street), the site of the former Platinum nightclub and short-lived Museum of Arts and Sciences. Douglas Development (702 H Street) purchased the 12,000-square-foot (SF) building at a fire sale price of $5 million last August (the former owner paid $10 million), and now plans to add a few floors. The company is marketing the property to top restaurant prospects, and has already spoken with a few. And no, they won’t say who. But expect to see a comprehensive rendering of the addition soon. At the pace Douglas Development is filling up retail space—including Graffiato’s at 707 6th Street; Amorini Panini at 906 F Street; Pret A Manger at 1155 F Street; and Crumbs Bake Shop at 604 11th Street—we should be hearing something very soon.
