Capital Bikeshare, DC and Arlington County’s regional bike-sharing program, is making its way to the National Mall. The planned expansion could happen early next year. No word yet on where its red bicycles will be located, but we’re glad to see them coming! Capital Bikeshare, the nation’s largest bike-sharing network, turned a year old last month. It now has 116 stations, 1,100 bikes and more than 18,000 members. Besides the Mall, more than 60 new stations will be added in DC and Arlington by April 2012 to meet growing demand. Other jurisdictions in Maryland and Virginia—including Bethesda and Alexandria—are also eyeing the popular bike-sharing program.
