WBJ: Yelp to open hub in downtown D.C., hire 500 new employees

By Daniel J. Sernovitz of the Washington Business Journal, Aug. 4, 2017-- "San Francisco-based online reviewer Yelp Inc. (NYSE: YELP) plans to establish a major employment hub near Verizon Center on D.C.'s East End after a months-long search that took it from the District to Northern Virginia to Atlanta.

"The publicly traded company, which has become a staple on most smart phones for its deep base of restaurant reviews and other info, has signed a lease for about 52,000 square feet at Terrell Place, 575 Seventh St. NW, with plans to start moving in later this year. It expects to create about 500 new sales and marketing jobs over the next few years and has expansion options in Terrell Place to accommodate future growth, according to D.C.'s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. Yelp has committed to hiring District residents for 51 percent of the new positions..."
