Field Asset Management
The DowntownDC BID is divided into eight Field Asset Management Zones. Each of these areas is surveyed throughout the week by members of the Quality Assurance Team (QAT) reporting any conditions that exists on the public space. Additionally, the QAT surveys various “reporting areas” such as sidewalks, alleyways, parks, and streets over the course of the month identifying any condition that persists on these locations. Furthermore, as issues arise in the Downtown, the QAT gets assigned various special projects to help those partners and stakeholders we work with have accurate and valuable information.
The QAT utilizes iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) and our custom Field Asset Management Mobile Application to document these conditions. The team is able to map the location, take extensive notes on the problem and snap a photo to validate the existence of it. This information then gets processed through a cloud-based server and is verified before sending to the responsible entity.
The Public Space Management Department identifies conditions daily and works with city agencies to ensure safety and aesthetics standards are met within the streetscape. During FY 13, these issues were reported and addressed by collaborating with the city. As a result, the resolution rate of these outstanding conditions was improved by over 400% from the previous year.
