The DowntownDC BID often receives words of praise from visitors, workers and residents touched in some way by the help and reassuring presence that our SAMs provide on Downtown streets. Satisfied customers’ offered the following remarks lauding the good deeds of individual SAMs and the SAM Program:
On Thursday, October 8, 2015, I had the pleasure of meeting Robert T. while visiting Washington, D.C. It was about 3:30 or so in the afternoon and I had just finished my tour of the city. I realized that I could not remember where I parked my car. I spent about 30 minutes looking myself and had started to panic.... He spent at least 20-30 minutes helping me find my car. He went above and beyond and was like an angel that came to my rescue.... I wish I could repay him for his help but most importantly I want his supervisor to know that Downtown DC has one incredibly sweet, coureous professional employee that went above and beyond... I will never forget his smiling face.

I just wanted to recognize Jeremiah whom we met on October 7th at Federal Triangle Metro... he got us to the correct Mero to get us to our next location and told us about the Circulator bus. What a bargain and also savings on the feet. When we got back to Federal Triangle, Jeremiah was still there providing assistance, cheerfully. You have a tre asset in Jeremiah and I just wanted to let you know it.

Just want to thank Downtown DC Maintenance crew member Terrence Kelly for helping to make my family's visit all the better. It was a joy to meet someone who is so knowledgeable and proud of their city.

Yesterday, I was with my 87 year old father in DC. His legs were giving out and the taxi did not drop us off at the Metro Center opening as requested. I was trying to discover the way to the Metro Center entrance, when Jeremiah came up to offer help. He pointed out the elevator entrance that saved my father a lot of steps. While my father was in his meeting at the National Press Club, I walked around 15th Street NW and Pennsylvania Ave. Area. I saw several people in red hats and white shirts helping visitors. I was impressed with the fact that your people didn't wait to be asked, but rather were sensitive to visitors in need and offered help. I was certainly glad that Jeremiah was there to find me in my time of need. Thank you very much for the service you provide. I think it must give foreign visitors a good feeling about our National and its Capital.

The sidewalk cleaning crew came this morning and we're very happy with their work, they were also very polite and respectful of both my clients coming in and the pedestrians. Thanks again!

I wanted to say thank you to Jeremiah one of your DC Sams. Tonight I was around 12th street looking for a good place to eat and wasn't able to make a decision. Jeremiah politely asked if I'd like some input, was able to talk to me about my interest and help with some direction. The food was a good choice too! Appreciate his efforts and the efforts of Downtown DC. Thanks you all. Regards.

My wife and I are tourists from Israel. We did not know about the street service that you provide. Today we looked for an address in downtown D.C. and one of your staff noticed us and offered help. His name is Charlie Stevenson. He explained that his duty is to help people get around the area and offer any reasonable help. This help he offered, and we accepted it with a lot of thanks. Excellent Idea!!! Good performance by your employee Charlie. Please give him our thanks again.

I'd like to compliment your employee, Linda Jeter, who greeted us in Chinatown on Monday, September 23. She helped to start our first day exploring the city. Her positive attitude made our day.
- Rebecca and two friends from Portland, Oregon
Linda Jeter, one of your on-street advisors in D.C. is EXCELLENT! On the second day of our late July holiday, noticing that we were unsure of our bearings, she approached us on the street not far from Macy's and gave us helpful advice in a friendly and upbeat way. Well done on being so proactive, Linda, and on representing D.C. so well!

Thank you for volunteering the services of the SAM greeters for the Mayor’s Sustainability Awards [held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts]—and for power washing the sidewalks. I happened to look outside the front door of the Museum and saw one of the greeters standing there, looking very smart in his uniform. We really appreciate your support of the Mayor’s Awards and your efforts to implement the D.C. Smarter Business Challenge.

I was in Washington, D.C., on the Sunday before Memorial Day for Rolling Thunder. I brought my 16-year-old daughter, and we wanted to sightsee while in D.C. When my daughter and I came out of the Metro in Chinatown, Linda Jeter greeted us with the biggest smile you have ever seen. Linda went way out of her way to help us and everybody who looked lost about where they wanted or needed to go. She was one of the kindest and happiest people I have ever met. She gave us our choice of three different restaurants to eat at. She also directed us to the National Museum of Crime and Punishment and the Spy Museum. Every company needs more people like her in their place of business, and I personally feel, due to her wonderful help and outgoing personality, she deserves a raise!! Hope everybody has a Happy 4th of July. Thank you for your time regarding this matter.

I work for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and had a team that we worked with for three months for the Nike Women's Half Marathon at the end of April. My coach and I were mapping out the best Metro route for our team on Saturday, April 27, and received terrific and friendly help from your SAMs, Charlie Stevenson and Patricia Young at 12th and F streets. We stumbled out of the Metro and found them waiting for us with smiles and helpful advice! They were engaging, helpful and wonderful, and made our weekend in D.C. even more enjoyable. Thank you for providing such warm and cheerful faces on the streets.

I found Timothy Hillie to be very helpful and courteous! He went out of his way to get tourist maps (while I ran a work-related errand) and met me at the Au Bon Pain in a timely manner! Timothy is a true asset to Downtown DC!

I want to express my sincere thanks to your organization and one of the SAMs who assisted me on my recent trip to Washington, D.C. I was in D.C. for business meetings and Linda Jeter assisted me in finding a specific building I was looking for, ensuring that I made it to my meeting on time. It was so nice to get this assistance. Initially, I was waiting for Linda to ask for something in return. Instead, she just smiled and reiterated her instructions to me, and I was on my way. I truly think this a great service, particularly if all of the SAMs are like Linda. She was professional, courteous and energetic. Please express my thanks to Linda and keep up the great work. This truly reflects well on the city.

Thank you so much for all that you are doing to make D.C. an inviting place. Please recognize Timothy Hillie, the employee who cleans up the area and reaches out to people like me when I need help. I was totally turned around today because I was to attend a meeting at Kaiser Permanente and was given a 700 Second St., NW address. I went there and then headed up Second trying to find the office. Timothy was out cleaning the debris and asked if he could help me. He told me that Kaiser was at 700 Second St., NE, not NW, and walked almost an entire mile with me so that I could find the office. He was respectful, upbeat and ever so helpful—an angel for me and the entire city. Thank you, Timothy. Thank you!

Had the most pleasant encounter with one of your employees, Shanita Cowling. She was on duty at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street. She was so pleasant, kind and knowledgeable about the city and its activities. She’s such a gem to your organization.

Robert Toney at G and 13th streets was very helpful. We walked out of the subway looking confused, and he immediately offered to help us. We found the restaurant we were looking for in time for our reservation thanks to his friendly and accurate directions. Thank you for offering this wonderful service.
