Comprehensive Goods and Services Delivery Program
Traffic congestion caused by illegal parking for goods and services delivery is an all too familiar problem in Downtown DC. The Commercial Curbside Loading Zone Implementation Act of 2009 currently under DC Council consideration specifies the components of a management and enforcement program to create and sustain long-term congestion reduction benefits. This issue brief provides an analysis of that proposal and offers guidelines for implementation to ensure its success.

The Downtown BID is facilitating the dialogue about Smart Parking technologies between potential public and private partners to help mitigate congestion, enhance the Downtown experience and create a system that is accessible to all users. Smart Parking systems provide information on off-street parking locations and availability using a variety of media. The Smart Parking Issue Brief outlines the opportunities and challenges, best practices, and recommendations for bringing this technology to Downtown DC.
