The Willard InterContinental Hotel (1401 Pennsylvania Avenue) has a new general manager, Patrick Birchall. He succeeds Jim Veil, who served in the position since 2010. Birchall has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he was general manager of the InterContinental Atlanta and served previously as the general manager of the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City. Birchall has also held top management positions at InterContinental properties in Nicaragua and Paris. In addition to his new title, he has been named regional director of operations-Mid-Atlantic for InterContinental Hotels Group. Birchall is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
