You’ve seen them around town, and certainly in Downtown DC. Now, food trucks serving everything from barbeque and kabob to cupcakes and custard are coming to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G Street). Beginning Wednesday, August 8, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, and extending for a limited time every Wednesday, lunchtime diners are invited to indulge in Books & Bites @ the Library.

This latest destination will take advantage of the bustling crowds that frequent the library to pick up books before rushing to get lunch. Now, they’ll be able to grab lunch from food trucks, chill at special seating outdoors under the overhang, and enjoy free WiFi and other services. Oh, and did we say live entertainment will be available during the first hour on the kickoff day? Well, we won’t reveal who, so show up to see!

Over the course of the Books & Bites @ the Library initiative, no fewer than 13 food trucks will participate in offering an alternative food option, with two to six joining the lineup each Wednesday.

They are:

The food trucks are all members of the DC Food Truck Association (DCFTA), a collaborative group of food truck owner-operators. To determine if your favorite will be present on a particular Wednesday, check its website, Twitter or Facebook accounts.

Our DowntownDC BID’s Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance employees (SAMs) will inform passersby about the food truck location. Happy eating!
