Residents of all ages are encouraged to run or walk the fifth annual HerStory 5K to honor the history-making women of the District. This event is part of FITDC, a citywide fitness initiative designed to provide residents with a year-long calendar of cause-driven fitness events that evoke city pride and allow residents of all fitness levels to unite in the spirit of living healthier and more active lifestyles. At this year’s HerStory 5K, women, men, children, and dogs can enjoy a lineup of speakers headlined by Mayor Muriel Bowser, a scenic route down Pennsylvania Avenue, and a finish festival with vendors, DJ, and a 360 photo booth.

“We Who Believe in Freedom: Black Feminist DC,” the National Women’s History Museum’s first physical exhibit, will trace Black feminism in Washington, D.C., from the turn of the 20th century through the civil rights and Black Power movements to today. On display through September 2024, the exhibit examines the voices and stories of more than a dozen trailblazing women, from the early Black feminism of the “Jane Crow” era to the future of Black feminism.
