DowntownDC BID Unveils Lineup of Summer Events

The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) has announced an array of summer events set to captivate residents and visitors this season. From outdoor music series and movie nights to immersive kid-centric experiences, DowntownDC is gearing up for a season of unforgettable entertainment with DowntownDC Live, DowntownDC Summer Flicks, and Kids World.

DowntownDC BID President and CEO Gerren Price, expressed, “This summer, Downtown D.C. is pulsating with energy and excitement. Our lineup of events promises an unforgettable experience for all who join us. Whether you’re enjoying live music in Franklin Park, immersing yourself in outdoor cinema, or creating magical memories with your family at Kids World, there’s a sense of community and joy that permeates every gathering. We invite everyone to come and discover the vibrant spirit of Downtown D.C. this summer.”

As part of the festivities, attendees at DowntownDC Live and DowntownDC Summer Flicks will have the opportunity to grab a Summer Events Discount Card. This card offers a 10% discount on meals every Thursday in June and July this year at select nearby restaurants, enhancing the overall experience of these events.

DowntownDC Live

This free lunchtime music series transforms Franklin Park into a sonic oasis every Thursday from June through July, starting June 6 from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. From the soulful melodies of Moonshine Society to the infectious beats of Honest Lee Soul, each performance promises to captivate audiences with an eclectic blend of pop, soul, and jazz. Attendees can also explore a variety of participating vendors offering delectable treats to enhance their midday experience.

DowntownDC Summer Flicks

Returning to Franklin Park for its seventh year, this free outdoor movie series promises six weeks of movie magic from June through July. Each Thursday starting June 6 at 7:30 p.m., guests can indulge in films like “The Marvels” and “John Wick Chapter 4,” accompanied by live scores from renowned guest DJs. Free swag items will be available while supplies last.

On July 18, join for a special edition evening tribute to legendary musician Prince. “A Night with Prince in the Park” will feature a mesmerizing mini-concert performance by Grammy-nominated singer Edward “Junie” Henderson, from 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Kids World

Taking place in Franklin Park on July 27 and 28 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., this annual event offers a plethora of hands-on projects, exciting activations, and special guests to captivate children of all ages. From Storyland and Creativity & Discovery Corner to Super Workout and Bubble Garden, there’s something to ignite the imagination of every young attendee. Families can also explore essential services at the Family Resource Row while indulging in delicious treats from food trucks at Little Bites Boulevard.
