An Asian American Dance Journey
Experience an evening of powerful storytelling through dance with renowned choreographer Dana Tai Soon Burgess at Woolly Mammoth. A fourth-generation Korean American, Dana explores identity, belonging, and home through works like Hyphen, a mixed-media piece on the Asian American experience; Becoming American, inspired by a dancer’s adoption journey; and Leaving Pusan, a tribute to his great-grandmother’s 1903 voyage from Korea to Hawaii.
The program concludes with a Q&A featuring Dana as he discusses his memoir, Chino and the Dance of the Butterfly, offering insight into his dance aesthetic and Korean American heritage.
