The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) reestablished daytime homeless counts beginning in January 2013. These daytime counts aims to capture the overall number of literally homeless within the downtown area of DC and include those who are forced to leave shelter during the daytime hours. The BID conducts these once a month in an attempt to have an understanding of the daytime population in comparison to the homeless documented at night.
