On June 27, Grab your lunch then take a seat in Franklin Park to enjoy your meal with a live performance by Deacon Izzy, a driving force in DC’s music scene, shaping it from classrooms to stages. Originating from Gastonia, North Carolina, his musical journey started in church. Since honing his talents at Howard University, he’s been a vital part of various ensembles and fraternities.
With notable contributions to acts like The JoGo Project and DuPont Brass, he’s also dedicated six years to teaching at City Arts and Prep PCS, guiding students to top performing arts schools. Beyond his classroom, his voice has graced DC lottery jingles, and he’s performed extensively across the DMV, Philadelphia, NYC, and North Carolina. His unwavering commitment to student success and his diverse musical influences, from Quincy Jones to Lauryn Hill, fuel his readiness to make waves on the national stage with his compositions and singles.
