Experience Sightlines: Chinatown and Beyond, an exhibition exploring the historical, cultural, and creative connections of Asian Americans to Washington, D.C. As part of Sightlines Saturdays, a monthly in-gallery program, this month features a special dance performance by the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC). Seeds of Toil brings national narratives of resilience to life through powerful choreography, drawing inspiration from Koreans laboring on Hawaiian pineapple plantations in the early twentieth century, Japanese Americans facing unjust incarceration during World War II, and the solidarity between Filipino and Mexican farmworkers in 1960s California.

Presented by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, the Sightlines exhibition is on view on the first floor of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Sightlines Saturdays also includes an in-gallery program earlier in the day, with a guided tour at noon, followed by a hands-on activity from 1–3 p.m. where participants can explore local murals and create love letters to their communities. Notice of Filming and Photography: Sightlines Saturday programs will be photographed, filmed, and recorded.
