Serve DC, the Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism, has partnered with HandsOn Greater DC Cares to host a 9/11 Day of Remembrance & Service tribute program and volunteer outreach event from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 11, at Freedom Plaza (Pennsylvania Avenue between 13th and 14th streets).

What to expect: hands-on service projects, preparedness demonstrations, a volunteer recruitment fair, live music, and guest speakers. In addition, the lunchtime crowd will be able to purchase and consume fare offered by local food trucks, which will be on hand to help feed the masses. The event will commemorate the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance as well as National Preparedness Month.

HandsOn Greater DC Cares, the region’s leading and largest volunteerism coordinator, connects individual, family and business volunteers with community service groups.
