Want to make the most of your lunch break? Check out the second annual installment of DowntownDC Live, a free, lunchtime live entertainment series in Franklin Park brought to you by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID).
Head to Franklin Park (13th & I streets NW) every Thursday from June 1 to July 27 from 12:30-1:30pm to enjoy live music and performing arts and bring your lunch or grab food from a nearby restaurant or food truck.
DowntownDC Live will feature music from various genres including go-go, punk, soul, rock and more! Attendees will have front row seats for exceptional performances by both local and international groups.
Look forward to performances by synth-pop artist Den-Mate with 202Creates and soul singer Akua Allrich with Capital Fringe. Other artists include pianist José André with Washington Performing Arts, who adds his Latin flair to infuse jazz, rock, the blues and world music and jazz band JoGo Project with DC Jazz Festival, which combines funk, rock and go-go.
It all kicks off Thursday June 1 with a performance by Nag Champa, a DC based futuristic funk band that blends house music, jazz, hip-hop and go-go with Music Download (see schedule below).
Artists have been curated by a variety of partners from 202creates to DC Jazz Festival, Washington Performing Arts, DC Public Library and Capital Fringe. This year’s series is made possible by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service.
To close out this summer series, we will feature Black Alley, a D.C.-based band that blends hip-hop, soul and rock and roll to create its own unique genre called #HoodRock. Stay tuned for their 2 hour set on July 27 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM!
The BID will provide a limited number of picnic blankets on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last for each event.
Spend your summer in the sun and liven up your lunch with DowntownDC Live!
