Street Closings for Convention Center Inaugural Balls

Multiple Inaugural Balls will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) over the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. As a result, the following street closures will apply near the Convention Center beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, and continuing through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22:

  • New York Avenue, from 6th to 10th streets
  • K Street, from 6th to 10th streets
  • Massachusetts Avenue, from 6th to 10th streets
  • L Street, from 6th to 10th streets
  • M Street, from 6th to 10th streets
  • N Street, from 6th to 10th streets
  • 9th Street, from O to K streets
  • 7th Street, from O to K streets

Parking restrictions will also apply in the restricted parking zone area encompassing O Street to the north, 6th Street to the east, Massachusetts Avenue and K Street to the south and 10th Street to the west.

Persons wishing to enter the restricted area either by car or on foot will have to present a photo ID or other form of identification or both as proof that they work or live in area. See the map for more detailed information about the closings and restrictions.
