Downtown BID Annual Meeting and Momentum Awards Luncheon

The Downtown Business Improvement District recently celebrated another year of excellence at its annual Momentum Awards Luncheon held at the Renaissance Washington Hotel. The event, hosted by Downtown BID Board of Directors Chair, Kingdon Gould III of Gould Property Company, gave praise to outstanding individuals, business and agencies that have contributed significantly to the Downtown area’s resurgence.

“We are rapidly approaching the point of realizing the goal of a ‘living downtown,’ where residents, workers and visitors come together in a vibrant, inviting and beautiful environment that reflects the true spirit of a world class, capital city,” remarked Gould during his opening to the audience. “The persons and organizations that we honor today have had played a vital role in helping to promote that vision.”

Downtown BID Safety and Maintenance workers, also known as SAMs, received awards for outstanding individual performance. The honorees are:

Featured guest speaker Martin Moeller, vice president for Special Projects at the National Building Museum, gave an enlightening presentation that highlighted the role of architectural structures in shaping the area’s development.
